Responding to the report that Wellington ratepayers may be out of pocket to the tune of $50,000 following the collapse of Wellington Fashion Week, Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director, Jordan Williams, says:
“Despite warning signs Wellington City Council appears to have provided $50,000 of ratepayers’ money in a failed sponsorship deal which was questionable in the first place. To make matters worse, this waste of ratepayers’ money does not seem to have deterred some councillors from pledging further financial support to the fashion industry in the future.”
“Wellington City Council should be concentrating on footpaths, not frocks.”
