Upper Hutt City Council invites public to Anzac Day Centenary Commemorations

Upper Hutt will commemorate the centenary of Anzac Day with a dawn parade and service at the Upper Hutt Civic Centre.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 20 APR 2016—Upper Hutt Returned and Services Association (RSA) Incorporated and Upper Hutt City Council welcome you to join us at the official Upper Hutt Anzac Day Dawn Parade and Service of Remembrance on Monday 25 April from 5.30 am.

The official Upper Hutt Anzac Day commemorations will begin with the assembly of the Dawn Parade at the Queen Street carpark, which will march on at 5.45 am.

The parade will travel south along Queen Street and make its way to Main Street via Pine Avenue. It will then continue south along Main Street up to Fergusson Drive where it will turn left and follow the road to Upper Hutt’s Civic Centre.

At 6.00 am the service of dedication will begin at the Civic Centre with the traditional firing of the shot.

Anzac Day commemorates those who have died at war serving New Zealand and it honours returned servicemen and women, past and present. This year we observe the centenary of the first Anzac commemorations held in 1916 across New Zealand and Australia.

Faultline Coffee will be on the green space opposite the Civic Centre with hot drinks available to purchase on the morning from 5.00 am to 6.00 am, and after the service ends. All profits will be donated to the Upper Hutt RSA.

Council’s official photographer will be present and photos will be published after the event. If you do not want your image to be used, please contact us.
