Start-up Café programme a new way to explore fresh business

Start-up Café programme a new way to explore fresh business thinking

Northlanders are full of new and innovative ideas and Northland Inc, the region’s Economic Development Agency, are making their team of business growth specialists available throughout the region with the Start-up Café programme.

“The Start-up Café sessions are designed to build a robust, well connected and continuously growing Northland business community by using the diverse skill base, knowledge and experience that is available to them,” says Joseph Stuart, Northland Inc General Manager - Business Innovation & Growth.

“The sessions give you the opportunity to grab a coffee, test your thinking and explore avenues to progress your ideas in a relaxed and informal environment,” says Joseph.

Getting good advice early on can lead to both a more sustainable business and identification of industry opportunities or customers that may have been previously overlooked. It can also identify the risks and in some cases highlight the potential failings of an idea.

“Too many businesses set up without thinking about the whole of the structure and struggle to turn profit quickly enough to get past the first or second year of trading. We also see some potential ventures that never get off the ground due to an overly complicated business concept rather than thinking about the minimum product or service they can initially take to market.

“We want to reduce the number of those types of businesses failing or failing to launch and the Start-up Café sessions are here to do just that. The sessions are also hugely beneficial for existing businesses that are looking to innovate or introduce new products or services.” says Joseph.
