Police seize approximately $120,000 of methamphetamine

Police seize approximately $120,000 of methamphetamine

Auckland Police have arrested and charged two people with possession of approximately $120,000 of methamphetamine for supply.

The two people charged yesterday – a 44-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman – will appear in Auckland District Court today.

They were arrested following a search yesterday of an inner city apartment in which approximately 10 ounces of methamphetamine was found.

This has an approximate street value of $120,000.

One kilogram of a powder material was also found and is possibly methamphetamine but is awaiting further analysis.

Some chemicals and other paraphernalia where also located, which could be used in the methamphetamine manufacturing process.
Police continue to assess the evidence gathered and further charges may result.

Auckland Police Detective Inspector Chris Cahill says that as part of this investigation, occupants of a vehicle stopped by Police in Nelson St, Auckland, this morning are now assisting Police with inquiries.

Armed police were deployed as a precautionary measure.

“This vehicle is currently being searched and the occupants are assisting Police with their inquiries.
At this stage no persons have been charged with any offences,” says Detective Inspector Cahill.

This is the second incident in a week where apartments and motels have been identified as being used for methamphetamine supply and possible manufacture.

“Methamphetamine is a destructive drug and Police will continue to target methamphetamine and dealing as a priority.”
