At 12.51pm today
(29 April 2016) Police were notified of a serious accident
involving a Black Mercedes Car and a Motorcyclist at the
intersection of Pound Road and Ryans Road, Christchurch.
Unfortunately a short time later the motorcyclist involved
has died as a result of their injuries. Police Serious Crash
are in attendance and there will be road closures in place
for sometime. The closures are in place at SH73 / Pound
Road, Grays Road / Ryans Road, Ryans Road / Guys Road and
Savilles / Pound.
There was a commercial truck near that
intersection at the time that may not be aware the accident
occurred behind them.
Police would like to hear from that
truck driver or anyone that may have witnessed the accident.

further details will be released in relation to this
accident until the victim’s family have been advised.
It
is envisaged that this will not be until Saturday 30th April
2016.
