Southern Region Inaugural Sport Stacking Tournament
The Southern Region Inaugural Sport Stacking Tournament will be held on Saturday, 28 May in Dunedin at Maori Hill School. This is the first time the World Sport Stacking Association (NZ) (WSSA NZ) have brought a sport stacking tournament to the South Island. This is a chance for all South Island stackers to bring their Speed Stacks stacking cups and have a good time – make new friends and even set regional, national and international records! A great opportunity for all South Island stackers to attend a local sport stacking competition. If South Island stackers have never been to a tournament, this is their chance! For teachers, tournaments are a great opportunity to extend their student’s learning, beyond the classroom – individuals and groups, new and experienced, are all welcome.
Competitors will be competing for the title of the Southern Region Inaugural Sport Stacking Tournament Champion. Awards will include Certificates, Medals for the Top Three Overall first time competitors and Trophies for the Overall champions. The age of competitors ranges from 3 to 60+. Also competing will be some of our current national team members, the NZ Black Stacks, some of whom will have recently returned from the World Sport Stacking Championships in Germany held at the beginning of April. Three team members are hopping on planes from Palmerston North and Wellington and coming South – including Caleb Smith (Wellington); Ben Flighty (Feilding) and Caleb Arthur (Marton). They will be joining well known local NZ Black Stacks, Ben Lovelock and William McLauchlan from Dunedin.
Sport stacking is an exciting individual and team sport where participants stack and unstack 12 specially designed plastic cups in a pre-determined sequence. Great for focus, concentration and left right brain activity.
Registrations can be done online. Early registrations close on 13 May, final entries close on 23 May. All details are on the Speed Stacks (NZ) website www.speedstacks.co.nz/pages/south-island-tournament. Spectators may join the sport stackers, instructors and volunteers from 9.00am.
Attached is the Tournament flyer for your information.
The WSSA NZ is keen to partner with local businesses and organisations who would be willing to assist with Sponsorship. Please contact Jo Carter (WSSA NZ) for more details: 04 971 7893
