$500 infringements for repeat noise offenders

$500 infringements for repeat noise offenders

We've been having a lot of issues with some people ignoring noise control notices, so now if police and Council bylaws officers have to return to a property that is causing excessive noise complaints, they can remove your stereo and issue a $500 infringement.

Best to just comply the first time if your neighbours have laid a complaint and the officers find your noise has been excessive. (Or how about letting your neighbours know if you are planning a party? You could even invite them to the party!)

Our Compliance and Bylaws Team Leader Steve Hart explains the new $500 infringements in this video.

See www.tcdc.govt.nz/noise for more information on laying a noise complaint.
