Coromandel development increasing
Coromandel development increasing
Our Planning
Team has been working flat out in recent months to handle
the growing number of applications for resource and building
consents, and subdivisions.
From July 2015 to February we had 264 resource consent applications compared to 214 over the same period in the previous financial year. Each applications takes on average 14.76 working days to process – well below the target of 20 days.
In the same period, there were 816 planning checks on building consents, up from 782 from July 2014 to February 2015.
Subdivision activity also saw a sharp increase, with our Planning staff processing 88 subdivision certificates over the July 2015 – February 2016 period compared to 55 over the same period in the previous financial year.
“This certification process provides title for subdivisions that have been granted and the significant increase clearly illustrates the level of development activity going on in the Coromandel,” says Michael Jones, our Development Planning Manager.
Also, we’re recently streamlined the process if you find yourself in the position of having to build over or near Council services – such as stormwater drains and so on.
Get in touch with us in the pre-design stage of your building project if you think this may be necessary because there are some pretty strict criteria around this to make sure Council infrastructure is not damaged and that we can still access it to maintain it.
Our website planning section www.tcdc.govt.nz/regulatory gives you easy access to building and resource consent.
