Powerco helps Illume Festival of Light to shine

Powerco has come to the Illume Party contributing $5000 sponsorship towards this year's event which is being held 15-16 July in Coromandel Town.

“Coromandel is part of our electricity network and we believe it is our responsibility to support the communities we serve," says Neil Holdom, Powerco's Corporate Affairs Manager. “This will be a fantastic event and we are excited to be part of it."
"We are extremely grateful for Powerco's sponsorship and looking forward to creating a successful event," says Sandra Wilson, one of the event organisers.

The money from Powerco will help towards the Saturday night fireworks display.

"The fireworks display is becoming bigger and brighter every year and we're fortunate to have an extremely talented pyrotechnic engineer who keeps coming up with fresh and creative ideas on how to illuminate the night sky," says Ms Wilson.

Friday night festivities includes a night market, live music and entertainment while on the Saturday a street parade is held with a colourful and eclectic display of floats on show down Coromandel Town's main street, along with the fireworks display.

Live music and street performances are held on both nights to cater to all ages and tastes. There is even a special Kidzone area for the little ones to enjoy the evening.

If you have a group of friends, family or work buddies who want to light up the night by being involved in the street parade, the Illume event organisers want to hear from you.

"We've had groups who have worn costumes lit up and walked down the street, cars and trucks decked out in lights," says Sandra. "We've had jack-o-lanterns, sunflowers and butterflies, monster faces and angels. We just want everyone to get creative and help us celebrate winter in Coromandel Town."
