Local Government NZ welcomes Northland Transportation Alliance

Local Government New Zealand President, Lawrence Yule, welcomes the establishment of the Northland Transportation Alliance (NTA) as an excellent example of collaborative leadership across four councils and the NZ Transport Agency.

“This is a great example of how the local government sector can pull together. The real value of this alliance will be its ability to provide transport and roading services that respond to the specific needs of the communities across the Northland region,” says Mr Yule.

The NTA is expected to deliver financial benefits of at least $18 million over ten years.

“The strength of this model allows for the benefits of pooling resources, while the assets and budgets remain within local council control and ownership,” concluded Mr Yule.
