Snakes and Ladders winter reading programme

Snakes and Ladders winter reading programme

Snakes and Ladders, the retro board game of the past, has been steam-punked to create the coolest winter reading programme this century.

Snakes and Ladders is TCDC Libraries' super-fun winter reading programme and it will motivate your children to discover the pleasure of reading this winter.

This exciting children's reading programme starts on Monday 27th June and runs for four weeks, finishing on Friday 22nd July. It is open to all children aged 5-13. The programme aims to encourage and extend children's reading by rewarding them for reading with rolls of the dice, in a race to the top of a giant game of Snakes and Ladders. Reading advice from our children's librarians introduces the libraries' quality range of books that children will be sure to love.

Library reading programmes are recognised by schools for helping children maintain and even improve reading levels during the school holidays. This programme encourages a daily reading habit, by giving children the chance to roll the dice and move up a giant Snakes and Ladders game-board in the library every time they read for 30 minutes.

Included in the programme are four fun school holiday activity sessions, activities to do at home, and individual report-in times with library staff. A Snakes-themed finale party on Friday 22nd July will announce the first-to-finish game-board winner at each library, and celebrate the reading achievements of all participants.
