New Matamata showhome opening to meet strong buyer demand

New Matamata showhome opening to meet strong buyer demand

Skyrocketing house prices mean Aucklanders’ can no longer ignore happenings south of the Bombay Hills, as competitive house and land packages spark a population explosion ‘south of the border’.

North Island regions like the Waipa District and Coromandel are experiencing solid growth in new homes being built.

Capitalising on the strong demand for new homes in the central-North Island is top 10 residential building company Generation Homes. One rural town which has experienced a surge in sales, particularly from Auckland buyers, is Matamata.

Located near the base of the Kaimai Ranges and home to the Lord of the Rings’ Hobbiton movie set, Matamata’s close proximity to Tauranga, Hamilton and easy commute to Auckland is very attractive to buyers.

Generation Homes is opening a four bedroom showhome in the Evergreen Estate subdivision at Matamata tomorrow (Saturday, June 11).

Generation Homes Waipa-Coromandel director Trevor Roberts says Auckland’s high prices are motivating buyers to cash up and relocate to more reasonably priced regional centres to achieve their desired build.

“We’ve had the exclusive rights to 24 sections within the Evergreen Estate since November but all house and land packages have been sold or are currently under contract,” he said.

While there are no Generation Homes’ house and land packages left in the Evergreen Estate, Roberts says future developments in Matamata, Cambridge and the coastal town of Whitianga in the Coromandel will provide exciting opportunities for home buyers.

“Buyer interest is definitely growing in the central North Island’s rural townships and we encourage people to view our new showhome,” Roberts says.

“This showhome reflects the latest in residential home building trends from functional outdoor living areas to stylish and customised interiors.”

The new showhome is valued at $580,000 and showcases the Kaimai plan. It features a large open plan living, kitchen and dining area with doors opening onto a central courtyard. The house has a separate formal lounge, master bedroom with ensuite, walk-in wardrobe, and an internal double garage. Other upgrades include a large tiled shower in the ensuite and walk-in pantry in the kitchen.

“We’re experiencing increased demand for larger homes and there has been a big push for functional outdoor living spaces with larger decks, covered alfresco areas and terraces,” says Roberts.

“Our showhome is a culmination of what many buyers are currently looking for in the market so it’s a great place to start gathering information and planning their own home building journey.”

The new showhome is aimed at helping not just those looking to build in Matamata but the wider Waikato region.

“We’re open to taking registrations of interest from buyers who may be thinking about building a new home during the next stage of subdivision development in Matamata,” Roberts says.

The Generation Homes Waipa-Coromanel operation also works direct with land owners to find the right architecturally designed house plan for a selected site.

“It’s really important for land owners to seek professional advice before selecting or customising a house plan,” Roberts says.

“By visiting a showhome our consultants can develop a better understanding of the customer’s needs and wants, their decision for moving and budget. This ensures we find the right plan for their site that’s designed to capture the sun and maximise views.”

Generation Homes was established in Tauranga in 1997, and is focused on providing affordable houses to Kiwis expecting a quality home without compromising on design.

Roberts has 35 years experience working in the building and construction industry and partnered with Generation Homes in 2012. His business deals with a variety of home buyers including retirees looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the major cities, the farming community and local residents who already have a foot on the property ladder but want to build a customised home.

Generation Homes’ new Evergreen Estate showhome at 2 O’Sullivan Drive (corner Banks Road), Matamata, is open every Monday, Thursday and Sunday from 12pm to 3pm.
