ARL gear up for Ladies in League Day

For immediate release

The Auckland Rugby League are gearing up for the inaugural Marketing Works Ladies in League Day - a new initiative which celebrates and acknowledges all women in league.

Locals can catch three great games on Sunday June 26 at Mt Smart #2 from 11am with entry for kids under 16 just $2 and adults $5.

Te Atatu open the day as they take on Marist in Rd 13 of the Women's competition before premiership favourites Papakura play Bay Roskill at 12.45pm.

The 2015 Women's Premiership winners Manurewa's Marlins Wahine go up against the Richmond Roses at 2.30pm.

The main contenders in the Women's competition have established a comfortable position with the Marlins leading without a loss this season.

The Papakura Sisters sit behind them with only one loss followed by the Roses who make top 3; Marist sit closely on the edge.

ARL football operations manager Patrick Carthy says the triple-header on Sunday will be a huge event.

"Some of our top teams in the ARL Women's competition will be playing at the Ladies in League Day, with some of the Kiwi Ferns in action too.

"Sunday will showcase some great football skills and standards from our Women's competition."

The first game between Te Atatu and Marist kicks off at 11.00am. Tickets go on sale at the gate from 10.45am.
