Successful rescue from Abel Tasman National Park

Today Nelson and Motueka search and rescue teams responded to an incident on the inland track of the Abel Tasman National Park.

A 64-year-old female was on a day walk with her partner, when she became unwell and couldn't walk any further.

Police, St John's paramedics and search and rescue volunteers responded in the Nelson Marlborough rescue helicopter with a second team of search and rescue volunteers responding in the Tasman harbourmasters boat to assist with the operation.

The woman was successful located in bush 2km west of Anchorage Hut and flown to Nelson Hospital for treatment.

The co-operation with community groups to quickly resolve these incidents is paramount and Police would like to thank all the volunteers and staff involved.
