Kennedy Bay Road repairs begin this week

Kennedy Bay Road repairs begin this week

The first of the permanent repairs on Kennedy Bay Road damaged in the April weather event will commence on Monday 20 June at the Fairy Falls site approximately 1.5km on the eastern side of the Tokatea summit.

Boese Landcare in conjunction with local contractors will be undertaking the reinstatement works, which will include construction of a retaining wall and concrete overflow platform to minimise storm damage during future events and is expected to take three weeks to complete.

"The road will remain open to traffic during the work, but short delays can be expected," says Roading Manager Matt Busch.

"Designs are being prepared for the two large dropout areas on the Coromandel Town side of the Tokatea Hill on Kennedy Bay Road and work is expected to be completed on these sites prior to Christmas, once designs are finalised, consents granted and contracts awarded," says Mr Busch.
