HELL carves up and offers customers a slice

Getting a quick fix of HELL just got a whole lot easier for busy workers in Auckland’s CBD, with the launch of an all-new Pizza-by-the-Slice outlet right across from the Sky Tower.

The Victoria St store is the newest in the HELL chain and the first to tap into the bustling city lunch trade, by offering individual slices ready in under three minutes. Those looking for a fresh bite after the sun goes down will also be able to grab a slice up until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

“Pizza-by-the-Slice has been on our radar for a while,” says HELL general manager Ben Cumming. “The time feels right for us to pave a new path to HELL for time-poor professionals and late-night snackers who want to sate their HELLish appetites.”

The opening takes the total number of HELL stores to 69 and is the launchpad for a host of Pizza-by-the-Slice outlets across the country – which could boost HELL’s national presence by around 20%.

“This new offering from HELL comes on the back of a very successful 12 months, in which we’ve carved up almost every good record in our history.

“We’ve enjoyed raising the bar and seeing records tumble. Customers love our move to free-range, the wild pizza series has challenged people’s imaginations – with more to come on that front – children are reading books and redeeming pizza vouchers by the thousands, Pizza Roulette is still blowing up taste buds, and our franchisees are happier than ever. We’re having a lot of fun!”

Feeling electric

HELL Victoria Street is taking a softly-softly approach when it comes to pizza deliveries, by becoming the first in the chain to use low-emission electric delivery bikes.

“Unlike the farcical autonomous robots we’ve heard other companies announce, our electric bikes are fast in congested areas and being used for deliveries right now – rather than waiting to be introduced in… probably never.

“City customers in other parts of the country can soon expect to see our bikes about town. These low-emission vehicles are another way in which we have looked to satisfy customers’ HELLish desires in a responsible way, while also improving our speed of service in traffic-heavy urban areas.”

HELL Pizza-by-the-Slice is available now at 69 Victoria Street, Auckland CBD.

Gordon Campbell: On Dune 2, And Images Of Islam

Depictions of Islam in Western popular culture have rarely been positive, even before 9/11. Five years on from the mosque shootings, this is one of the cultural headwinds that the Muslim community has to battle against. Whatever messages of tolerance and inclusion are offered in daylight, much of our culture tends to be hostile to Islam when we’re sitting in the dark, with popcorn.
Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
