Norsewood to Takapau Fun Run – are you up for the challenge?

Are you looking for a fitness challenge or just an active social day out with friends? The 11th Annual NORSEWOOD to TAKAPAU FUN CHALLENGE to be held on Sunday 17 July caters for all fitness levels and abilities, young and old alike and is proudly supported by Takapau and Norsewood Lions Club & Sport Hawke’s Bay.

This event first started out as a way for neighbouring Norsewood and Takapau Lions Clubs to interact and mingle. 10 years on and the event has turned into a highlight on the local sporting calendar for many walkers, runners and recently cyclists, attracting around 249 participants last year from around the region and as far as Wellington and Hamilton.

There are options galore with a NEW 10km section being added this year as well as the usual options of walking or running 21.1km or cycling 20,30 or 40kms either as an individual, group or relay team in either the social or competitive sections. Entry costs are kept to a minimum with adults at just $15, school students $5 and under 5’s FREE with all proceeds from the day being donated to two local community causes: The Takapau Health Centre and the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter which services Norsewood and surrounding Tararua districts.

The starting point is at Norsewood School with the first section - Social Walkers kicking things off at 8.30am. The Finish line is located at Takapau School with prizegiving being held there between 12-12.30pm. FREE shuttle buses, (which can also transport bikes) will be provided either way before and after the race between the Start & Finish points (first bus leaves Takapau at 7.15am). Amenities and 3 water stations are located along the course, with food and refreshments available to purchase from Takapau School.
