Concern for woman's safety as police search for Karl Brown

"Police hold serious concerns for woman's safety as search for Karl Brown continues"


Waitemata Police are looking for Karl Brown and hold serious concerns for the safety of a woman known to him while he remains at large.

Karl Brown was the subject of a media release on Wednesday 8 June.

The night before he is alleged to have seriously assaulted the woman at an address in Albany.

He fled from Police and was not located.

There are now more than 17 warrants for his arrest on the following charges;

-Robbery

-Male assaults female

-Assault with intent to injure

-Threatening to kill

-Driving while disqualified

-Contravening a protection order

-Operating a vehicle carelessly

Despite efforts to locate him, Karl Brown hasn’t yet been found and is believed to be hiding from Police.

“Karl Brown has an extensive history of family violence and we are very concerned for the safety of a woman known to him whilst he remains at large.

We believe he has actively been looking for her and Police are working with other agencies to keep her safe” says Detective Inspector Bruce Scott, Investigations Manager, Waitemata Police.

“We have received information that he has mates helping him to hide from Police.

Let me be clear, if we find evidence that anyone has helped Karl Brown to avoid being arrested, we will look to charge those people.

This is a very serious situation and anyone who knows where Karl Brown is should call Police straight away” he says.

Anyone who sees Karl Brown or knows where he is should call 111 immediately.

Information can also be given to the Family Violence team at the North Shore Police, or anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
