Irene Van Dyk to open Whitianga netball tournament

World-famous netball player and former Silver Fern Irene Van Dyk is to open the Fusion Netball Tournament at the Mercury Bay Sports Park on 24 September.

Fusion is a netball club from Pukekohe and they are joining forces with the Mercury Bay Netball Centre to host the tournament. The tournament organiser is Troy Hardy, also known for organising the Thunder Beach motorcycle rally and the ARL Nines.

Teams from Brisbane, Auckland, Thames, Paeroa, Whangamata, Tairua, Coromandel and Whitianga are playing in some grades and there will be opportunity to secure a spot in others.

The tournament is being live streamed around the world.

There will be prizes, special guests, music, food, and fun for the whole family.

The event is sponsored by our Council, the Mercury Bay Informer and the Whitianga Hotel.
