Great Things Grow Here

Great Things Grow Here

Great Things Grow Here is an economic development platform for Hawke’s Bay. It is a vehicle that businesses and organisations can use to promote our region as the best place to do business, work and live.

There have been some very big economic wins right across our region, especially over the last 12 months, and so it is the perfect time to capitalise on those successes.

Hastings mayor Lawrence Yule is very proud and pleased to have the backing of all the sister councils and the owners and managers of many of our successful business ventures, as the Great Things Grow Here brand platform is taken another step forward.

“We all want the same outcome: Growth for our region and improved living standards for all of our people, and Great Things Grow Here is a vehicle to promote the region and achieve that.

“The new website we are celebrating the launch of tonight is one more step in the development of Great Things Grow Here and the positive uptake we have seen over the last six months.”

When Hawke’s Bay businesses engage in trade discussions, anywhere in New Zealand or across the world, an important facet is the “back story””.

“Increasingly people want to know where their food comes from, how it has been grown; what its provenance is.

“Specialist food buyers and chefs from across the world visit Hawke’s Bay regularly. That back story is very important to them.”

Three Michelin star chefs visiting Hawke’s Bay about four years ago (at the invitation of Beef and Lamb NZ) were adamant that the story behind our produce, the space it has to grow, the purity of the water, the lack of smog, is very important to buyers, chefs and the eating public across the world.
