Hamilton fatal crash appeal

Hamilton fatal crash appeal

Waikato Police continue to investigate the fatal crash near Hamilton Airport on Friday night, which resulted in the death of four young people.

Detective Sergeant Mata John says the public has been very supportive of the investigation to date but there is a long way to go to establish exactly what lead up to this tragedy.

Inquiries have revealed that prior to the collision a white sports car – a Nissan Skyline - with the victims in was travelling north towards Hamilton.

It collided with a van heading south.

The driver of the van is recovering in Waikato Hospital.

“We would like to hear from a woman driving a red car on the night who stopped at the scene as she may have additional information to assist in the inquiry.

“We are also interested to hear from anyone who has information about a white hatchback or similar car that may have been travelling with the white Nissan Skyline involved in the crash.

“The driver of that vehicle needs to come forward as we believe they will have information that can assist in piecing together the circumstances of that night,” says Ms John.

Anyone with information about the Friday night crash can contact Hamilton Police 07 858 6200 or alternatively Crime Stoppers 0800 555 111.

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
