A big response to SuperGold switch to AT HOP

A big response to SuperGold switch to AT HOP

Auckland Transport is pleased with the way SuperGold cardholders have responded to the need to switch to AT HOP cards for their public transport concession.

AT Metro Customer Experience Manager, Peter Paton, says tens of thousands of SuperGold cardholders have responded positively and quickly to a campaign designed to help them make the switch to AT HOP cards.

“Most SuperGold cardholders who use public transport have already purchased an AT HOP card with SuperGold concession loaded and we will continue helping the remainder to do so,” Mr Paton says.

An estimated 90,000 Supergold cardholders use public transport in Auckland and so far 71,428 people have AT HOP cards with SuperGold concessions loaded and another 14,477 have begun the process.

Following a 2015 Ministry of Transport review of the SuperGold card public transport scheme, SuperGold cardholders will be required to use smartcards as smartcard technology, such as the AT HOP card in Auckland, become available. SuperGold cardholders need to buy an AT HOP card and load a SuperGold concession to enjoy the SuperGold public transport concession in Auckland from 1 July 2016.

The AT HOP card costs $10 and a $5 credit must be loaded onto the card at the same time – for a total one-off cost of $15. The $10 card cost is non-refundable.

“We’ve distributed more than 50,000 information packs and our SuperGold cardholders have responded with the help of our 0800 AT GOLD freephone number, online information, retailers, libraries and Customer Service Centres, including our mobile unit.”

Mr Paton says all SuperGold cardholders in Auckland are due to receive a letter from the Ministry of Social Development this week reminding them of the change and how to make the switch.

Additionally, Auckland Transport continues to use its mobile registration unit to help SuperGold cardholders make the switch to AT HOP.

“The mobile unit has been a big help to seniors and has been able to assist up to 400 customers per day,” Mr Paton says. “We hope seniors will keep up the great momentum over the next few days and get their concession loaded.”

He says seniors wanting to take advantage of the mobile unit should purchase their AT HOP card and register it ahead of time to minimise waiting time at the mobile unit.

The mobile unit will visit various locations across Auckland during the rest of June and into July.

Further details about the mobile unit are available through Grey Power, Age Concern and at www.at.govt.nz/supergold, or by calling 0800 AT GOLD (0800 284 653).

Those seniors who do not yet have an AT HOP card should visit www.at.govt.nz/supergold for more information or call 0800 AT GOLD (0800 28 4653) to request an information pack.

Terms of use and registered prospectus for the AT HOP cards are available at AT.govt.nz/athop. Obligations of Auckland Transport under the AT HOP cards are unsecured

Ends.

Gordon Campbell: On Dune 2, And Images Of Islam

Depictions of Islam in Western popular culture have rarely been positive, even before 9/11. Five years on from the mosque shootings, this is one of the cultural headwinds that the Muslim community has to battle against. Whatever messages of tolerance and inclusion are offered in daylight, much of our culture tends to be hostile to Islam when we’re sitting in the dark, with popcorn.
Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
