Sky Tower lights for Turkey

Sky Tower lights for Turkey

Tonight the Sky Tower will glow red and white in solidarity with the people of Turkey following the terrible attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport. Turkey is a country many New Zealanders have travelled to or through, and with which we have close historical ties. The Turkish flag features a red background and a white star and crescent.

The Sky Tower is the southern hemisphere’s tallest man-made structure based in the heart of Auckland, and is one of New Zealand’s most recognisable landmarks.

SKYCITY lights the Sky Tower for charities or community initiatives that we support financially, to mark national holidays, milestones or other celebrations or events, or as a symbol of respect or solidarity.

The lighting of the Sky Tower is best viewed, photographed or filmed 30minutes after sunset which is at 5.15pm tonight.
