July is Cuppa for a Cause Month

Making your morning or afternoon tea count by hosting a ‘Cuppa for a Cause’ in July is a great way to show your support for people in our region who are living with dementia. Getting together, dressed in the international color of dementia purple, enjoying some delicious refreshments and sharing stories to learn more about dementia, is fun, easy and most importantly, you’ll be making a positive difference to those thousands of people with dementia in our region.

“Two out of every three New Zealanders are touched by dementia. Community understanding and support makes all the difference to people continuing to live well with dementia. We want people with dementia to continue to access all the usual community services, such as libraries, shops, banks, etc and know that they will be supported and respected, because people understand dementia,” says Darral Campbell, Manager of Alzheimers Canterbury.

In addition to specialised dementia services, Alzheimers Canterbury provides information and education to the public, community groups, health and service groups and businesses with lots of tips and ideas about how to become dementia-friendly.

Register your Cuppa for a Cause at www.cuppaforacause.co.nz or contact Alzheimers Canterbury on 0800 004 001 or admin@alzcanty.co.nz for more information.

Ends.
