(Thursday 30 June, 2016) Queenstown, New Zealand, was one of the first locations in the world to see the sun come up on today's World Social Media Day, celebrated with a sunrise Insta-shoot from The Remarkables ski area for four international social media influencers.

Queenstown based influencer Trey Ratcliffe was joined by Bare Kiwi (Kyle Mulinder), Jason Charles Hill and Hello Emilie (Emilie Ristevski) at The Remarkables ski area to catch the sun rising on World Social Media Day, before taking in the excitement at the DB Export Dog Derby, and enjoying a helicopter flight from The Remarkables to a stunning scenic spot in Queenstown's mountains.

This afternoon the festivities continue with the sold out World Social Media Day Insta-meet and BBQ. The event, which is designed to be an educational workshop on leading social media practices, is part of the 42nd American Express Queenstown Winter Festival on this week.

More than 120 social media enthusiasts will sail across Lake Wakatipu on Southern Discoveries’ Spirit of Queenstown to Mt Nicholas High Country Farm to learn social media tips and tricks from the four reknowned influencers.

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
