More people playing for $40 million prize

More people playing for $40 million prize

There is $40 million on offer with Powerball tonight and it must be won, meaning Lotto stores up and down the country are inundated with customers hoping to win the big prize.

“This is the biggest jackpot New Zealand has ever seen and it looks like we’re breaking all of our previous sales records,” said Wayne Pickup, Chief Executive of Lotto NZ.

“More people are playing than normally would. We’re selling five times as many tickets than we would on a normal Saturday.

“And it’s already our biggest ever week on MyLotto, and we’ve still got today to go.

“All Lotto stores and the MyLotto website are extremely busy. Anyone who wants to be in to win on Saturday shouldn’t leave it to the last minute to pick up a ticket.”

In a Must Be Won draw, if there are no First Division winners the entire jackpot rolls down to the next Division where there are winners – for example, Second or Third Division. If there is more than one winner in that Division, the total jackpot is shared evenly amongst all winners.

With a prize of this size up for grabs, Lotto NZ is reminding all of its players to play responsibly.

“There is a lot of excitement among players, both in-store and online,” said Emilia Mazur, General Manager Corporate Communications.

“Our games are fun to play, and it’s exciting to be in with a chance to win a big prize. At all times, we encourage responsible play, which is all about having fun, being informed, and knowing your limits.”

Lotto players can buy a ticket for Saturday’s $40 million Powerball draw in-store at any Lotto retailer or online at MyLotto.co.nz
