Thursday Night Street Feast to roll into Levin
A monthly pop-up global food village is set
to launch in Levin on Thursday 21 July.
The Thursday Night Street Feast will showcase the quality of gourmet food available from food trucks and will be attended by at least 10 from the growing fleet throughout the Wellington and Manawatu-Whanganui regions.
Supported by Horowhenua District Council, the Street Feast will be held on the second-to-last Thursday night each month, from 5.00pm to 9.00pm in the carpark in front of Te Takere in Levin.
Talented local musicians will perform each time, to help create a festival atmosphere.
Street Feast co-founder Simon Bowen says the event aims to demonstrate the power of food to bring a community together and encourage a mix of people of all ages and backgrounds.
Mr Bowen says a key reason for bringing the Street Feast to Horowhenua was due to the District Council’s commitment to developing local pride and vibrancy.
He said the Street Feast can certainly draw the crowds, with over 6000 people attending its debut in Palmerston North last month and around 5000 people regularly attending in Lower Hutt where it was founded.
