City Care to look after Waikato district open spaces

City Care to look after Waikato district open spaces

City Care Limited was awarded Waikato District Council’s Open Spaces maintenance contract last month and are now in full preparation mode for a start date of 1 August this year.

The Christchurch-based company will take over the maintenance of all of the district’s open spaces including our parks, gardens, cemeteries and playgrounds.

The contract is worth $4million per year for up to 10 years and is based on a set of performance criteria.

Waikato District Council General Manager Service Delivery, Tim Harty says his team is looking forward to the up-coming partnership with City Care.

“We will be able to deliver an increased level of service in this area. City Care brings expertise and new technologies which will make a positive difference to the way we look after the district’s parks, gardens and playgrounds,” Mr Harty says. “Whilst there is no real change in the way the public will interact with Council in this area (primarily by calling the 0800 number), City Care staff will be responding to these calls. They will also undertake the routine maintenance works. City Care bring with them a number of innovative and efficient systems and processes which in the longer term will result in the district benefiting across the board.

Tim Gibson, City Care’s Executive General Manager National Maintenance says park maintenance in particular is a core part of what City Care does. “We are pretty good at what we do. Our vision is to build great communities. We want passionate local people working in their communities.”
