Invercargill City Council Takes Home Project of the Year at 2016
Invercargill City Council has been awarded 2016
ALGIM Information Management & Records Project of the Year
at the ALGIM Annual IM/R Awards in Wellington.
Their project, Land Information Memorandum Project outlining the Councils move from a paper based property file system to an electronic system for Council's regulatory functions, took out the top prize of the evening, beating out entries from across the country. The judges commented that the project showed, a very good example of a solution focussed on process as well as meeting customer needs.
Director of Environmental and Planning Services Pamela Gare, and Records Team Leader Cheryl Anderson accepted on behalf on the Council team.
Coming in as a close first runner up was Waikato Regional Council with their Discover Project which saw them take thier inefficient document management system to one that is simple and intuitive to use, ensuring electronic documents and records are “easy to save and easy to find” which was praised for the projects good use of change management and its link to Waikato Regional Councils strategic direction.
Also celebrating was Julie Stacey of Waikato Regional Council, who was awarded the 2016 ALGIM Information Management & Records Professional Development Award. This award and scholarship is given to someone who demonstrates great potential for further success. The judges felt that Julie was deserving of the award due to her dedication and passion to see projects through to completion. Julie’s scholarship will go towards her attending the NZ Institute of Management’s Four Quadrant Leadership course.
ALGIM offered its congratulations to all the award-winning Councils and their staff for their significant achievements.
ALGIM serves the entirety of the New Zealand Local Government ICT sector, with all 78 Councils as members. The Annual Information Management & Records Awards highlight the best and innovative projects within our country in order to further develop the sector as a global leader in information management.
