Thefts from St Peter's Anglican Church

Police investigating thefts from St Peter's Anglican Church

Police are investigating the theft of several antique items from St Peter’s Anglican Church in central Wellington.

The items are embroidered vestments that are over 100 years old and have significant meaning to the church.

The items were taken from a display cabinet in the church and the church would very much like to see the items returned.

They are very distinctive and would be of little value to anyone outside the church.

The items taken are matched sets of Burses, Palls, Manipules and Veils in church 'season' colours (red, white, green and purple).

They are all heavily embroidered on silk damask.

Anyone with any information on this incident, or who knows of someone trying to sell items similar to the ones above is asked to contact Wellington Central Police on (04) 381 2000.

Alternatively, anonymous information can be provided to CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
