Passionate about our region? Get your nomination in

People with a passion for the Wellington region have until next Friday to lodge their nomination to stand for Greater Wellington Regional Council.

If you’re prepared to make a stand, you need to complete a nomination form and return it to the council by midday, Friday 12 August.

Regional Council electoral officer Margaret Meek says, “We’ve had a number of nominations come through, but we’d like to see more. People generally leave it to the last possible moment to throw their hat in the ring and we’re expecting that as the deadline gets closer, more people will start putting their names forward.”

Ms Meek encourages potential candidates to double check their paper work before lodging it with the council.

“It’s important that you fill out the form correctly and that all relevant sections are clearly answered. If you’re unsure about anything or require any further information, please contact the council and our officers will be only too happy to help you.”

Nomination forms and information packs can still be collected from, and returned to, reception of the Greater Wellington Regional Council building at Shed 39, 2 Fryatt Quay. Nominations close at 12noon on Friday 12 August.
