Local body elections latest nominations

If you're thinking about standing in our local body elections you've got three days to get your nomination in.

Candidate nominations close Friday 12 August at midday. Late applications cannot be accepted.

"Please don't leave your application to the last minute to submit, because if it's been filled out incorrectly it can't be accepted," says our Governance Manager Angela Jane. "Give yourself some time to make sure you have checked off and filled in everything you need in the application, as well as giving our staff time to make sure what you have submitted is correct."

Local body elections are open to anyone who wants to represent their community as a Community Board member, Councillor, Mayor, Regional Councillor or on the District Health Board. All you need to become an elected member, apart from being a New Zealand citizen and enrolled on the parliamentary electoral roll, is a willingness to participate and a commitment to serve your community.

The local body elections close at midday on Saturday 8 October 2016 following three weeks of postal voting. Preliminary results will be known mid-afternoon.
