New Plymouth Police looking to identify hit and run driver

New Plymouth Police are seeking help from the public to identify a car involved in a hit and run on Sunday morning (7 August).

A local man was cycling up Mangorei Road at approximately 10am and was just past the Karaka Street intersection when he was struck by a car.

There were two people in the car which was heading up Mangorei Road towards Merrilands Shopping Centre.

The driver did not stop when it knocked the man off his bike, causing moderate injuries.

The car is described as red and similar in shape to a Nissan Skyline.

If anyone witnessed the incident or believes they may be able to identify the vehicle or its driver, they are asked to contact Sergeant Jeff McGrath at New Plymouth Police on 06 759 5500.

Alternatively, information may be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
