Three to contest Hastings mayoralty


Three people will contest the Hastings Mayoralty at the Local Elections in October.

Nominations for the 2016 Local Elections closed at midday today with long serving Mayor Lawrence Yule facing a challenge from Adrienne Pearce and Guy Wellwood.
The following nominations have been received:

Mayor: (one vacancy) Lawrence Yule, Adrienne Pierce, Guy Wellwood

Flaxmere Ward (two positions) Lynlee Aitcheson-Johnson, Henare O'Keefe; Jacoby Poulain

Hastings-Havelock North Ward (8 positions): Bayden Barber; Wayne Bradshaw, Malcolm Dixon, Damon Harvey, Sandra Hazlehurst, David Mackintosh, Graeme McHattie, Simon Nixon, Christopher Perley, Adrienne Pierce, John Porter, Geraldine Travers, Kevin Watkins

Heretaunga Ward (2 positions): Rod Heaps, Ann Redstone, Jason Whaitiri

Kahuranaki Ward (1 position): George Lyons, Stuart Perry

Mohaka Ward (1 position) Tania Kerr
Flaxmere Licensing Trust (6 positions): Martha Greening, Susan Hopkins, Warwick Howie, Kenneth Kibblewhite, Bertram Lincoln, Jacob Poulain

Rural Community Board members (four subdivisions):

Tutira (1 position): Susan Maxwell

Kaweka (1 position): Nicholas Dawson

Maraekakaho (1 position) Peter Kay

Poukawa (1 position): Michael Lester

Voting opens on 15 September and closes at midday 8 October 2016.
