More buses for Wellington

More buses for Wellington

Greater Wellington Regional Council is working urgently to provide more buses for the growing number of people catching buses from Karori, Wadestown, Wilton and Khandallah.

“We are working with the bus operator to get extra buses as soon as possible ,” says Paul Swain GWRC Public Transport Portfolio Leader.

“As soon as we can find extra buses they will be out there,” says Cr Swain.

“We’re listening to the people of Wellington, particularly those in areas where there is strong growth, and we’re meeting that demand.

“It’s great that more people are getting out of cars and into buses.”

Regional councillors approved a recommendation today to put on seven extra peak time buses in the western suburbs:
· Three extra public buses on Karori routes 3, 18 and 21

· Two extra school buses, morning and night for Karori.

· An extra public bus for Khandallah route 43/44

· An extra school bus on Wilton/Wadestown route 14
