"Routeburn Track rescue - UPDATE "
Police and Search and Rescue (SAR) will this morning continue attempts to recover the body of a Czech man who died following a fall on the Routeburn Track.
“Unfortunately, weather conditions in the area are not ideal today, but the recovery team headed out first thing this morning and will be making every possible attempt to complete the recovery today, conditions permitting,” says Inspector Olaf Jensen, Otago Lakes Central Area Commander.

Due to weather conditions and the nature of the terrain, it has unfortunately not been possible today to recover the body of a Czech man who died following a fall on the Routeburn Track.
Conditions permitting, the recovery team will make another attempt in the morning.
A further update will be provided tomorrow after 8am.
