Record Attendance at the Central Northland
Science & Technology Fair
Northland, New Zealand – 30 August 2016
Northland’s top science and technology talent gathers in Whangarei
The Central Northland Science & Technology Fair (CNSTF) kicked-off in Whangarei on Monday (August 29) with a record number of exhibitors from across the region.
Two hundred and sixty-five (265) students, from as far afield as the Bay of Islands and Maungaturoto, entered this year’s fair, submitting 217 exhibits for display at Forum North in Whangarei.
Event organisers are impressed by the high-level of growth (27% year-on-year) the event, which attracted 172 exhibitors in 2015, has experienced.
“Over the last couple of years we've seen exhibitor numbers go from strength to strength,” said CNSTF Sponsor Liaison Venee Mortimer. “It’s a real testament to how much support there is for this event across the community, from our sponsors and especially from the students who participate.”
Celebrating 37 years of science and
innovation, this year’s CNTSF played host to young
innovators from 15 Northland schools:
• Bay of Islands

“The fair
has given our students ideas and opened their minds. It has
shown them that science is not a narrow area and there are
amazing opportunities to follow if they decide to purse a
future in science or technology,” said Kamlesh Prakash,
Head of Science at Bay of Islands College.
Exhibits at the CNSTF will be judged in various categories with top awards offered to the most topical, innovative and relevant projects. A full explanation of judging criteria can be found on the CNSTF website - www.centralnorthlandsciencefair.co.nz.
