Ukulele Lessons Come To Clevedon

Ukulele Lessons Come To Clevedon

Clevedon Village has an enviable reputation as a Sunday driving destination and the reasons for heading out to the beautiful region have just increased with the addition of Sunday morning ukulele lessons at the old Clevedon Post office on the roundabout. International children’s songwriter and recording star Judi Cranston, herself a local resident is introducing her own “Uke ‘N Do it!” ukulele program for those wanting to learn the ukulele from scratch or join together for a fun jam session.

The program is based on a one hour lesson on a Sunday morning, (leaving lots of time to enjoy the other pleasures of Clevedon and Sunday), with take-home music books and CD, plus online video lessons to carry on learning at home. Session times are split into ability levels so that players can progress at their own speed. Age or ability is no barrier and Judi has yet to find a student who cannot learn, her pupils ranging from 3 to 88yrs. An all-in jam session in the afternoon emphasises the fun factor.

The sessions are on the first Sunday every month, with the first session starting on Sunday October 2. There is no commitment to come every month as players are free to book or repeat a level to suit their confidence. Players can bring their own ukuleles or purchase one through Judi’s contacts. Pre-registration is necessary but full details and registration is available at http://judicranston.com/uke/

As well as her musical talents, Judi Cranston is an international inspirational speaker and she delights in providing her unique mix of learning, inspiration, empowerment and fun into her music classes. This is bourne out by her highly successful Kawakawa Bay Ukulele group who have shown what people can achieve with the right attitude.

While Judi is focusing on ukulele at present, popular demand may see the concept extending into singing and guitar lessons as well. Just imagine that jam session!
