Ockham Residential Breaks Ground on new Avondale Development

Ockham Residential Breaks Ground on new Avondale Development

9 September 2016 – Ockham Residential officially broke ground this week on its eighth and latest residential development, the Set buildings located in the heart of Avondale.

The Set buildings are sited on what was the Council-owned Suburbs Rugby Club. Panuku Development Auckland removed the existing buildings and put the site out to a competitive tender, which was subsequently won by Ockham Residential.

Ockham co-founder Mark Todd is delighted to be bringing the Ockham Residential philosophy and development approach to Avondale’s Racecourse Parade.

“It is always exciting starting work on a new project, but Set is particularly exciting for us.” said Ockham co-founder Mark Todd. “As a special housing area this project was designed under the provisions of the new Auckland Unitary Plan. The revised rules allow Ockham Residential to offer homes which are relevant to the economic, demographic and social needs of Aucklanders. It’s a great feeling knowing we can provide quality and affordable housing right in the heart of a cosmopolitan and multi-cultural community such as Avondale.”

“This development is a great example of supporting the demand for housing through the quality redevelopment of urban locations,” says Panuku Development Director Allan Young.

The design of Set with its pitched roof (echoing the oldest building in Avondale, St Ninian’s church), is the creation of Ockham Residential’s Lead Architect Tania Wong. The project has a personal connection for Tania, who grew up in the area and is excited to be contributing to Avondale’s ongoing development.
