Trampers missing in Hunua Ranges

"Trampers missing in Hunua Ranges"

LandSAR teams are currently searching in the Hunua Ranges, south of Auckland, for two people who have been missing since yesterday evening.

The man, in his 60s, and woman, in her 30s, were tramping on the Workman track when they became separated from their group.

Police were alerted to the pair missing around 5:15pm last night and LandSAR teams were deployed as well as the Eagle helicopter.

Teams searched for the pair until shortly after 2am this morning but had no luck so called the search off for the rest of the night before redeploying this morning at 8am.

Four teams are currently searching the track and neighbouring areas.

If anyone has been tramping in the area and may have seen the pair or have information which may help Police to locate them please contact Counties Manukau Police on 09 261 1300.

An update will be provided when more information is available.
