Art enthusiasts wanted for Advisory Board
Art enthusiasts wanted for the Coromandel Arts and
Creative Industries Advisory Board
We're looking for volunteers to join the newly established Coromandel Arts and Creative Industries Advisory Board.
The Advisory Board will be responsible for advancing the new Coromandel Arts and Creative Industries Strategy, which our Council adopted at the end of June.
Key roles of the new board will include supporting the priorities from action plans between tangata whenua, arts communities and community boards, and leveraging funding from local, regional and national sources.
The Advisory Board will also take on the role of distributing funding from Creative New Zealand under the Creative Communities Scheme.
Expressions of interest are sought
for the following positions:
• One appointment for the
Thames Community Board area
• One appointment for the
Coromandel-Colville Community Board area
• One
appointment for the Whangamata Community Board area
•
One appointment for the Tairua-Pauanui Community Board
area
• Two appointments for the Mercury Bay Community
Board area
• One tangata whenua appointment from across
the district
Appointments for the community board areas
will be made by the relevant community board, with the
tangata whenua representative to be appointed by the
Mayor.
There will also be four positions filled by
community arts councils' appointments (for Thames,
Coromandel-Colville, Tairua-Pauanui and Whangamata), one
appointment by the Hauraki Māori Trust Board and the
appointment of one elected member (either a councillor or
community board member) by the Mayor. There will be a total
of 13 members on the Advisory Board.
Valuable skills
and experience for this role may include:
• Experience
working or volunteering in the arts and creative
industries.
• Previous experience in a leadership role
or with community organisations.
• Strategic thinking
and financial planning.
• Experience with funding
applications.
• Business savvy.
Advisory Board roles are voluntary and any expenses incurred in attending meetings will not be covered by the council.
As this is a new structure, it will be up to the Advisory Board to set its priorities and rules of operation, while complying with any funders' rules. All appointments will be confirmed in November and the first meeting will be held on 9 December 2016 in order to make decisions on the December funding round of the Creative Communities Scheme.
Expressions of Interest will be accepted from 15 September to 17 October 2016. If you would like to be a part of this exciting new opportunity to take a leadership role with the vibrant arts community on the Coromandel, we would welcome your nomination.
Expression of interest forms can be found on our website here.
