World’s First Smart Trampoline at Wellington Home & Garden Show

The world’s first smart trampoline will be on display at the upcoming Wellington Home & Garden Show, which opens this Friday for three days, at the Westpac Stadium. It is the first time the innovation will be available for full purchase, with pre-sales having been hugely successful since it was launched in May both nationally and globally.

The brain child of New Zealand company, Springfree Trampolines, it features an outdoor interactive digital game system that encourages children to head outside and be active. The ground-breaking ‘tgoma’ system uses technology to transform screen time from an isolating, sedentary activity, into a healthful, engaging experience for the entire family. The on-tramp system includes high-energy activity games, educational games for exercising both body and brain, and fitness training apps for all ages. The clever new concept is a finalist in the 2016 New Zealand Innovation Awards, which will be announced in October.

Marketing Executive, Charlotte Garvan, said “Tgoma is an acronym for Take Games Outside and Make them Active. Springfree featuring tgoma uses sensors on the trampoline mat to communicate with a tablet which is attached to the enclosure net. Your body becomes the controller. Tgoma identifies where you are on the mat, how high you’ve jumped – it can even tell you your calorie burn rate as you’re jumping. We’ve created a suite of games and apps that use that data, to encourage kids to leave the couch, and make their gaming experience an active one.”

“As well as a lot of fun games, we also have educational apps – Math Hopper for learning maths, Repeat Street for learning the alphabet, numbers, colours & shapes – and fitness apps. You can compete against your family and friends as well as play against others all over the world with global leader boards. ”, Miss Garvan said.

There is also a function called ‘tgomafit’ which has up to 25 exercises and ten different work outs that run between 6-9 mins long. It was created with the NZ trampoline team coach Angie McDougal to bring professional fitness training to people’s own backyards. It is picked to be especially popular with busy mothers who find it hard to get time to exercise. Jumping on a trampoline burns more calories than running, has health benefits for the lymphatic system, improves bone mineral content and builds the musculoskeletal system.

Show director, Daniel Joll, said “We pride ourselves on attracting the latest home improvement products and innovations to the show. We’re delighted to help promote this clever new concept and look forward to bringing visitors a show packed with the latest trends, variety and bargains.“

“There will be a courtyard feature garden, plus a great range of landscaping, plants, garden art, sculptures, spa pools and everything needed to enhance the outdoors. For those keen to improve the indoors, the interior design competition is bound to give them some great ideas, plus there will be kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, homeware, heating, air conditioning, bedding, new home builders, renovators and much, much more. Industry experts will give free daily seminars each day, plus show-goers will have the chance to win an amazing home package by entering The Hits $20,000 Big Spender prize draw. There really will be something for everyone, so home enthusiasts come along and prepare to be inspired!” Mr. Joll said.
