The people of Whitianga are supporting search and rescue teams who are looking for Lucas Cochrane.

About 30 search specialists are working to find the 19-year-old, who was last seen at a function at the Whitianga Fire Station just before midnight on Saturday 24 September 2016.

About a dozen family and friends of Lucas are also assisting in the search, including his parents.

The teams continue to look for him in a mixed environment of properties, farms, small pockets of bush, roadways and waterways.

The Police helicopter Eagle has also been brought in to assist.

Police co-ordinating the search are grateful to local people for providing home baking and other refreshments to everyone involved in the effort to find Lucas.

He is European, 182cm tall and of medium build with short sandy coloured hair.

When he was last seen, he was wearing a black t-shirt, dark blue jeans, black peaked cap and white Nike shoes with red and blue on them.

Anyone who has information about Mr Cochrane’s whereabouts is asked to contact Police immediately on 111.

A number of photographs related to the search are attached to this media release.
