Police appeal for witnesses to Hamilton assault

Hamilton Police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a woman near Waikato Hospital early on the morning of September 26th.

The 31-year-old woman was assaulted at approximately 4:30am while walking through the carpark of St Stephens Church, on the corner of Mahoe and Ohaupo Roads.

Detective Sergeant Terri Wilson says she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male who threatened her before sexually assaulting her.

"There is a possibility there were people in the area at the time of the incident who may have seen either the victim or the offender.

“We really want to hear from anyone who may have information to help us in our investigation.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Craig Chaplow at Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200.

Alternatively they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
