Treble Cone’s Colourful Closing Day

29 September 2016

Treble Cone’s Colourful Closing Day

Treble Cone’s 2016 Season is wrapping up this Sunday 2nd October, concluding with a bit of fancy dress, fun and colour, as well as celebrating another successful snow season that achieved a number of key milestones.

This August, Treble Cone received its highest ever visitation since forming as a company in 1968 and installing the first rope tow in 1969, receiving a record number of skier visits.

“The momentum and vibe at Treble Cone has been building over recent years, with stability in pricing coupled with tweaks and improvements across the guest experience. Even with our late start, it was an unbelievable season, especially opening up with a 50cm snow day,” Jackie van der Voort, CEO, Treble Cone Ski Area.

Closing Weekend is set to go off with a bang, as a range of family fun activities will be held that will surely make you wish the season was not ending.

After the Rossignol Lederhosen 500 was postponed last Saturday due to weather it has relocated to October 1st - perfect for an Oktoberfest themed day. First skier across the line wins a pair of Rossignol Super 7’s and the first snowboarder wins a Rossignol Madtech board. Registrations are still open, dressing up in Lederhosen is encouraged, there will be German anthems playing at the finish line and even beer tasting from Wanaka Beerworks to complete the theme.! All money raised will be donated to the Kea Trust Conservation.

A small obstacle course will be part of the Challenge, race your friends down the fun trail or be a spectator cheering on the competitors. It will be a fun environment for families to enjoy the Platter with a bit of added colour.

“This Sunday will see some new events coupled with some old favourites, so we have something for everybody. It is bound to be a Closing Day not to be forgotten any time soon,” Jackie van der Voort, CEO, Treble Cone Ski Area.
