Farewell message from Mayor Glenn

Farewell message from Mayor Glenn

(Photo: Mayor Glenn holding the waihaka that he was presented last month in Destination Coromandel’s Industry Showcase Special Awards. This award acknowledges an individual who has shown outstanding commitment, passion and leadership to the tourism industry on the Coromandel. The wahaika was handcrafted for Glenn.)

As I sign off after six years with you all at Council, I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the people of the Coromandel.

It’s been an honour to have represented you and our District, as it’s something you don’t get a chance to do very often in a lifetime.

I’m really proud of where we’ve been and what we’ve done over the past two terms and I hope I’ve been able to leave Council in good stead.

I also feel pretty privileged to have worked with some outstanding Council staff and seen a lot of new, young people join our organisation and see their passion for serving our communities.

I’ve also met some exceptional people in my dealings around the District. People who volunteer their time and skills to community projects, people who want to give something back and people who care deeply about the Coromandel as a place.

A thank you to all our elected members who have served in the past term and good luck to all those who get voted in for the next three years. I wish you the best.

And to everyone out there, thanks for giving me the chance.

Glenn
