Crash State Highway 88, Port Chalmers side of St Leonards - closed to trucks, buses

*NB: Earlier Transport Agency report recorded a motorcyclist involved in this crash, it is a two car collision.

A crash between two cars this afternoon has affected State Highway 88 at St Leonards, Dunedin. A detour using local roads is available for cars/light vehicles, however, there is no alternate route for heavy vehicles.

The Police Serious Crash Investigation Unit has been called to the site.

Timing for reopening

The Transport Agency is hopeful the highway will be open in an hour or so (around 6 pm) once the oil has been cleaned up and the highway is clear.
