Police seeking to locate Conwaye Brown

Police seeking to locate Conwaye Brown

Waikato Police are looking to locate 31-year-old Conwaye Brown (pictured) in relation to an aggravated robbery and assault on police in Morrinsville, on Tuesday 25 October, 2016.

At approximately 1pm, Police received reports of a man brandishing a hammer and acting aggressively towards members of the public on Coronation Road, including trying to hit a passing motorist’s car.

An officer attended, but when the offender saw the patrol car he raised the hammer in the air and started running towards the vehicle.

As the officer tried to drive out of the way to call for back-up, the offender struck the car twice with the hammer on the driver’s side.

After hitting the patrol car, and while still brandishing the hammer, the offender took a large knife from his bag and approached a man who had got out of his Ford Falcon XR 6 car to talk to a friend.

He demanded the man’s car keys, before getting in the vehicle, realising the keys were still in the ignition and driving away at speed.

When he failed to stop for Police, the attending officer started following him through the residential streets of Morrinsville but later abandoned the pursuit due to the risks created by the offender’s excessive speed.

Mr Brown currently has a warrant to arrest for failing to appear in court on other matters.

Police would also like to talk to him in relation to this incident and are keen to hear from anyone who may know of his current whereabouts.
