Largest number of applications for Creative Communities Fund

Largest number of applications received for Creative Communities Funding

An abundance of creative and cultural activities and events has seen Palmerston North Creative Communities Funding Committee receive 43 applications. This is the largest number of applications received in any one round.

All applications were considered and the committee agreed to fund just over $57,800 to 27 recipients for a variety of events and projects in the latest round of funding. A total of $188,580 was requested for funding from all of the applicants.

The successful applicants represent a wide range of creative and cultural projects, events or activities which represent well the city’s diversity and strength of commitment to the arts.

The purpose of the Creative Communities Scheme is to encourage communities to create and present diverse opportunities for accessing and participating in arts activities through a partnership between Creative New Zealand (CNZ) and local authorities. Palmerston North City Council acts as community arts advisors, and manages and administers the applications and distributions of funds.

The next round of funding opens in March 2017 and closes on 10 April 2017. Application forms are available on the Palmerston North City Council website.

A detailed list of the successful applications and their projects are listed on our website - (click on minutes)http://www.pncc.govt.nz/yourcouncil/meetings-committees-agendas-and-minutes/agendas-and-minutes/ccnzarts-and-culture-fund-committee-agendas-and-minutes/ and summarised in the attached document.
