Palmerston North engineers supporting Wellington recovery efforts

15 November 2016

Two Palmerston North based structural engineers will head to the capital tomorrow to help with safety checks on Wellington City Council’s facilities in the wake of yesterday’s earthquakes.

They are senior civil engineer Ross Nicholson from Palmerston North City Council and Chantelle Bailey, a structural engineer with international professional services company GHD.

The engineers are being deployed in response to a request from the Wellington City Council.

“Mayor Grant Smith offered our assistance yesterday,” says PNCC City Enterprises general manager Ray McIndoe.

“The engineers will be working on a variety of Wellington City Council facilities including libraries and community centres. At this stage they’ll be in the capital until the end of the week.”

Yesterday PNCC undertook a thorough inspection of Palmerston North’s services and infrastructure and confirmed they were all operating as normal following the quakes.
